Wood Shingles
We at Fine line painting believe that wood shingles and decks are one of our specialties
(and if I had my way this is all we would do). We just love taking an old shingle
home and restoring it back to new. This work is our art and has taken years and
years to get right. We are now masters at understanding PH levels and how that works,
down to all the different materials that can be used.
There are all kinds of oil base sealers on the market that work for a year or two
before they start to break down and turn black. Not only do they turn black, they
hold and trap mold spores that travel through the air. Deteriorating sealers and
mold just go hand in hand to make your wood shingle home look dark and moldy.
I have traveled all the way to Florida to learn about a new material that eliminates
power washing ever three to five years and prevents mold from adhering to it surface.
This is the best material that I have ever seen for any surface, wood or stucco.
If all paints were made this well the world would need far fewer painting contactors.
Eliminating power washing forever was a fantasy that I just didn’t believe was possible,
nor did I believe in my wildest imagination that this material would hold up as
it says it will. Spa-&- Deck by Flood is by far the best and, in my opinion, the
only way to refinish your wood shingle home or decks. Hey, if you don’t believe
me then call some of your neighbors or, even better, go look for yourself. Just
call me and I will give you the address closest to you and their phone number and
how long ago that particular home was done. The very first home I did with this
product was in San Rafael in Gerstle Park; that house was done eight years ago and
still looks brand new today.
I still do use TWP and oil base stains and I do them at a very high level; these
products will last even longer if you get the PH level of the wood to its optimum
level. Getting the PH level right comes with washing the house and using the right
amount of Stripper, Cleaner, TSP and Clorox. This alone has taken much of my life
to really get right.
