Restoration

Painting and Restoration goes hand and hand. We are restoration specialists, which means that we like to paint older homes that need far more than just a paint job. Anyone can put paint on a wall and most of the homes we repaint are just that, fixing someone else’s mess.

Restoration to us means prep work and a lot of it. Prep work is the heart of the job and it does not come in the primer; it comes by rolling up your sleeves and getting dirty. Prep work is very difficult and tedious and takes a lot of effort to do right. Sanding is not fun, but the fact is we will not paint any surface unless it has been properly sanded. There are all kinds of different sanding from fine sanding around window frames to belt sanding decks and everything in between. Sanding is a huge step and it absolutely must be done right. If you use the wrong grit you will either not sand the surface enough or, with too heavy grit you will have scratches that will show through your paint.

Caulking, fixing nail holes, repairing rotted areas, replacing glazing, kell-patching and so on is all a huge part of restoration. If you want your home to look its best, and for the job to last as long as you expect, that prep work will make all the difference.

When selecting paint, we at fine line painting only use the best possible materials and the cost of high quality paint is not cheap. But the fact is, if you are going to spend the money to do a high end prep job then you better apply the best paint on the market to protect your investment.
